You've travelled this book, tried Joomla! created your website, and you think you know everything about the use of the CMS. You are not wrong, you know enough to manage your site.
And if reading this book could bring you a little more? The little trick that will make you a real expert...?
This chapter is here with this in mind: to teach you tricks that will help with your Joomla! website implementation, Or give you a different approach to the use of the software.
This section is not exhaustive, you can even leave your tips in comments, or place them on the Joomla forums to help the community.
Easily an installation again:
After installation, Joomla asks you to delete the folder /installation.
If you rename it, for exemple __installation, that will enable you, if necessary, to remake an installation from scratch.
You'll just have to delete configuration.php file and rename your folder /installation to revive an almost new Joomla.
This can be handy if you are testing locally and want to save time by " reformatting " your Joomla quickly between each test.
I lost my admin password:
The easiest way is to ask nicely to Joomla! by adding behind the site URL : " index.php?option=com_users&view=reset "
The site will ask you the email address of the administrator.
But it may also happen that the admin password or the admin account has disappeared altogether.
This is very rare, and later, you will need to check the security.
However, to remedy this, you can go through the database and inject this query:
REPLACE INTO `jos_users` ( `id`, `name`, `username`, `email`, `password`, `usertype`, `block`, `sendEmail`, `gid`, `registerDate`, `lastvisitDate`, `activation`, `params`) VALUES ( 62, 'Administrator', 'admin', ' email@example.com', '5f4dcc3b5aa765d61d8327deb882cf99', 'Super Administrator', 0, 1, 25, '2005-11-22 00:31:11', '2005-11-26 22:05:38', '', 'editor=');
Be sure to replace in your query jos_ by your suffix table and the right email address, you can also change the names administrator and admin.
You have, according to this example, created a super administrator account with the login admin/password.
Add an image according to category:
It can happen that we want to decorate an article with an image which corresponds to the category: For example in the header of the template, or a specific logo on each article, or a bullet changing with each category.
The trick is : using the alias category.
You put in a folder, for example images / categories the images you want to use, and you name those images the name of the alias: alias.jpg (Naturally, each image will have a different name).
Then you put in your template, where you want, this code that calls the image in question.
item-category_alias; echo '';
Of course, you should adapt it to your needs, but the idea is there! Have fun
How to make an article sticky?:
Very often, one needs to keep an article ahead in the categories or on the homepage.
Some people use the category description, but that fact that it is no longer an article.
There is a simple solution: the order of articles.
By assigning a negative order we can play with the layout of the blog and so cheat a little with Joomla !
